So as whiny as the pitcher's audio has been, I'll tell you why I have a little bit of sympathy for them and blame the analytics guys in less than 30 seconds.

In education, there's an expression, teaching to the test.

Forget music, forget art, forget being a well-rounded student,

teach what's on the standardized test, make the numbers look good.

The analytics guys in baseball have been in power for about 15 years,

and it's been just forget painting the corners,

forget pitching the contact, forget knowing how to pitch, just spin rate, spin rate,

numbers, numbers, spin rate stats.

And for 15 years, it's a whole generation of pitchers now have come up through the minors
