I come to live with history as a young child because history explained the world to me.

It calmed me when what I saw didn't match the reality of what I knew.

And what I hope the 1619 project has done is made people understand the relevancy of history

and how we can't ever get past something.

We are witnessing America as a failed social experiment. How do we tell this story

in a way that builds the kind of emotional moments of the colorblind ideology built?

So many young brothers and sisters of the younger generation find themselves so far removed in the best of their past.

What are we going to make out of the nothing we've been given? How do you envision possibility?

But as you know, all these things are arbitrary. You know what I mean. Yeah, that's true. We don't we don't live for them, but it's nice they got you on the list, at least somewhere near the top. So, so kind and loving of you to mention that, though, because you use whatever fame, visibility, publicity you have in order to try to be a real force for good.
