Hey, I'm Brian Hyatt, and this is Rolling Stone Music Now. I'm in the studio with David Brown and Andy Green will be joined in a minute by Birkis Panos. And today we thought we would talk about Fire Fest and also some of the

predecessors of the festival in the past two festivals I'm sure will go really

well in the future which are the two

sort of Woodstock anniversary festivals this year I'm sure that will go

perfectly. But Firefest there's been these two documentaries on Hulu and

Netflix both kind of extraordinary.

It's all just amazing, there's so much there.

Let's start with the idea of the music at Firefest, because purportedly the whole time

it was a music festival.

Everyone kept saying music festival.

They had musical guest book.

They had Blink 1A2.

They had Major Laser.

Of course, the festival was a disaster.

People showed up and there were soggy mattresses instead of luxury

accommodations. They were trapped on the island. It was the worst disaster since Woodstock 99.

And we'll get to the Woodstock links because I think that's really interesting.

But fundamentally, I was fascinated by how little anyone cared about the music.

There was a moment in there when Blink-1A2 canceled before the festival started.

They explained that they weren't able to put on the show

that they would want to put on and therefore they didn't want to go. And one of the attendees

was like my friend told me that Blink-182 canceled,
