Well, it would be good I think, if we began our time together with prayer.

And so I'd like to pause and ask God's help as we begin our second session.

So let's pray.

Well, Father, how we long for this time together not to be spent in vain?

It's a frightening thing to hear the Lord Jesus say.

This people honors me with their lips,

but their heart is far from me.

In vain do they worship me just repeating the traditions of men. And so we would ask you to come and prevent us from vanity and emptiness and fruitlessness or even faithlessness and

we cherish the promise that you'll be with us now. And we love adding that great promise

that you'll be with us now.

Indeed, we love adding that great promise,

all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Now, make disciples and I'll be with you to the end of the age.

So sandwiched between those two great words, all authority is yours, and I'll be with you.

We do our work.

Fill me with truth and biblical balance, I pray, and grant ears to hear, eyes to see your glory, hearts

that are receptive and docile, discernment, Lord, so that anything amiss would be dropped away and everything that's true would be carried away with great effect.

I ask Lord that you would protect us from the evil one here, who is the destroyer of life, a murderer from the beginning, a liar and a deceiver, a

distorter of everything, a ruiner of the body.

And so in our weakness, we look away from ourselves

to the mighty Christ and ask that you would protect us, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from this evil one.

We cloak ourselves now not with any merit or value of our own, but with the righteousness of Christ and with his said blood.
