But we've got a new theology that's built on need.

And the idea is I got all these needs and God better meet my needs and Jesus better meet

my needs and boy I've got to be satisfied and I need to be fulfilled and I need to be

and I need to flourish in my business and I need my marriage to be what it ought to be and

boy when you start down that track that is a track to disaster.

Thankfulness. It's foundational to your spiritual health and one of the easiest

attitudes to neglect, even on the holiday that's dedicated to it. So how do you cultivate a

thankful attitude, both during the Thanksgiving celebration this Thursday in the United States

and all year long? Consider that today in a message on the fundamental Christian attitude

of contentment. But, John, before you look at what Scripture says about the importance of giving

thanks, maybe you could take a minute to talk specifically about the people grace to you is thankful

for this year. Each one is a precious and strategic partner in connecting

God's people with God's word. Well, of course, and that's the folks that give to this ministry,

that donate to this ministry. I thank the Lord constantly, unendingly, for bringing folks alongside

grace to you for all these many decades, because we would have

no ministry apart from you. You encourage me more than you would ever, ever know through your

letters, your calls, your prayers, and your gifts. And I know it's a sacrifice to make.

And it takes time and effort and a willingness to lay things aside that could be used

for other purposes to continue to invest with us.

And so many of you do that.

And many of you do it regularly.
