Welcome to our bracket breakdown as part of this year's NCAA tournament.

We will be discussing the Midwest region and I'll be honest there kind of is a lot of

chalk here I'll get into why I think we are gonna be closer to chalk in this region but just to walk through

we've got the overall number two seed in the Houston Cougars.

Now here's the thing and many of you probably didn't even watch Houston this year

because they play in the American Athletic Conference which essentially is

what Conference USA was, give or take a couple of different teams, but long

story short, the Houston Cougars are 31 and 3. Calvin Sampson, a long time college basketball coach, has basically turned this into a regular force in the southeast region, you know, in terms of what you've got with this Cougars team, they are in the top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency according to Kenpam which is the predominant ranking

systems for college statistics. You know, Houston made the Final Four and 21. They were in the

Sweet 16 last year. They, you know, again, while they have lost when they've been in that top spot, you know, again, it's been a hot potato in terms of teams ranked in the top three this year but you know if you look at

their strength of schedule. It was a close come from behind win by Alabama, which is the overall number one seed in the tournament for those of

you who do not know they had a random loss against temple, you know, again, was a bit of a headscratcher, but, you know, we've had a lot of, we've had a lot of, we've had a lot of we've had a lot of weird games this year I

told you teams that were in the top this year just lost randomly when they were in that either the

ones overall number one ranked team were in the top two there was just some random losses so

Houston being one of them against Temple and then you know they did lose their

conference title game against Memphis but that was also a case where one of their

and actually I shouldn't say one of it, he is their best player, Marcus Sasser was

sidelined with a groin strain. Now, Sasser's status, they're saying he should be ready for the tournament. We're going to go with that, but realistically, they're not going to need them for the first game just in terms of what they're going to be matching up
