Day one is in the books. Florida State Open Spring Practice today. It's Monday. I don't even know the date, but we're in 2026 in the year of our Lord. March 10th maybe?

0:09.0

Yeah, it sounds good to me.

0:10.0

Night, I think it's March night.

0:11.6

Floor State Open Spring Practice.

0:12.8

We didn't get to watch it, but we did get to talk to Mike Norvell and two of the team leaders

after practice today.

0:17.5

It was very, I don't think they took requests on this one.

0:20.0

I think they clearly wanted to put Deuce Robinson, senior wide receiver,

0:23.6

Daniel Lyons, senior defensive tackle,

0:25.6

that they've kind of been talking about the last several weeks about being the leaders of this

football team. I think clearly on both sides of the ball, we got to talk to both of them today.

0:34.4

It was kind of interesting because they were here last year.

1:29.9

And you heard so much good things about Deuce Robinson last year. But it was more about leading by example. And he talked about the fact that last year was hard for him to lead vocally because he just got here. He had just moved across the country, didn't know this offense, didn't know the players. But now that he's been here for a year, he's invested so much, he can be that guy. And then Daniel Lyons, I forgot that last year, this time he was hurt. He missed a lot of the spring in the summer. And then as the year went on, he kind of stepped up as a big player in this defense. So these are two guys that are the unquestioned leaders of this football team, but they're kind of in new roles as leaders as well. Yeah, especially you mentioned Deuce. It is hard to be a leader when you've never done anything at this school and you're the new guy learning the new system. But then with Daniel, he had really, he had played, but he hadn't done much. And then last year, yeah, it's hard for, even though he's an older guy, it was hard for him to be a leader because he was hurt. And then he was learning. It's hard to be a leader when you're still trying to figure out what you're doing.

1:44.3

With the new defensive scheme. Right. So he feels much more comfortable. Duce does too. And I think, you know, when you're covering a football team that has not been good, let's just say, let's be kind the last couple of years. you throw a lot into leadership and what it means and what it doesn't mean.

1:46.4

We both agree that leadership matters.

1:45.4

Like you've got to have player accountability for your team to reach its ceiling.

1:50.9

Whatever the ceiling of that group is, you need player-led accountability, player leadership.

1:55.9

But at the same time, you know, Deuce Robinson's a leader because he's really good at football.

2:00.5

You know what I mean?

2:01.0

Like you need those guys too.

2:02.3

And a super hard worker.

2:17.6

Right. That proves to those guys what it looks like, shows what it looks like. But don't you, like we don't want to put too much in the leadership because at the end of the day, you've got to have guys that make plays that are good football players too. It's been nice if you can marry the two. Yeah, and without a question, but it also, when people ask, what does that mean or where does it come into account, where you need it is in the road trip to Virginia in double overtime or the road trip to Stanford or the Pitt game where somebody steps up and is like, man, this is not happening. Yeah. We're not losing this football game. And that's where that team last year. I don't think it was a bad bunch of guys, and I don't think it was a lack of
