Not exactly sure that that's what we expected. I'm not sure that Mike Norvell expected it either. Early this week, after the big win over Alabama, he expressed a little bit of concern. I think on Tuesday or Wednesday about some lapses in practice, which is understandable. I think most of us expected maybe this team would have a letdown after that. East Texas A&M is not exactly a big brand opponent to get you excited. But man, right off the bat, Gerald Jackson coming through with a sack. I mean, just play after play after play. And then the offense, the first drive was 12 plays, 80-something yards, felt like that was a little bit of a struggle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then after that it was just nine straight touchdown drives. They had 10 straight touchdown drives in total. And really the longest one was the first one. The rest of them were like a minute, two minutes, one play, four plays. It was just an assault. Yeah. And it was, look, man, we kind of understand that East Tech Stadium isn't as talented as Alabama. That was the impression I got, Ira. I mean, I haven't scouted the film. but it didn't look like they were very good. But it's the way Florida State play, especially on defense. Like the offense, they have better athletes, and they played well and they executed very well. But defensively early on, flying around or a little, just flying around like he does, the DeSere Brothers, Darl Jackson. I thought that was really impressive because we've

been here before. One of the games that angers me most, since I've been covering Florida State football was that North Alabama game two years ago when they were undefeated and they played so lacklusterly. That's a word, right? It's got to be. Lackluster-ish. Anyway, lackadaisical. Lackadaisically, lackadaisical.

where Jordan Travis feels like he has to go make something happen. That was not the case today. I think Tommy had two runs total for like 11 yards. Like he didn't have to do it. They came out, took this game seriously, took the week seriously, preparing for it, it went out and just assaulted that

team. That was it, that was as impressive as showing coming off a big win as I can remember

a long time, because they could have gone through the motions of one by 40. But no, they're up

It wasn't just that they won that game, but I thought it was kind of compounded in this one because it didn't matter who you put in. They go to Kevin Sperry a quarterback. They go to Rockland a quarterback. They go to third four string running backs, former walk-ons and positions across the field, and they're still just continuing to play well. Yeah, you're right. It's like saying it's not a very good team, but they played SMU a week ago, and that was like a three or four touchdown game. Well, they also outgained SMU. It was like 390 to 360 in total yards. They threw a pick six. They had a punt return against them. Florida State's probably never going to do that. They're not a punt return team, guys. You just punt that thought aside because they're good at a lot of things, I think. That's not going to be one of them. But yeah, man, I think what East Texas A&M just got throttled completely. And I brought this up in the column that you can read on WordChant.com. I have to reiterate, as I do in the column, I'm not comparing them to 2013 and saying that that was, they are the second coming of the 2013 team. I'm saying they're better than that team. Don't laugh. What are you doing? No. What I've always, one of the points I've always made

about that season that made it so special is after the huge win at Clemson, where they basically said,

look at us, country, we're the best team in the country, and throttled a very good team.

The next week, 3.30 against a not great NC state team, that was not a very good NC state team.

They could have taken that easy and rested and like just rested on their laurels a little bit and won comfortably. They were up 35 nothing in the first quarter, man. That's how special that team was. They just came out to dominate and play to their standard no matter who the opponent was. This team was up 35 nothing 19 minutes into the game. Again, East Texas A&M is not the caliber of North Carolina State. This is not the caliber of that 2013 team. But there is some right stuff about this team that's in, you know, this team might be, might be made up of the right stuff. Yeah, they definitely seem to be. And, you know, it's a little bit of change in mood real quick, but I do feel like we need to touch on it pretty early on. Obviously, Ethan Pritchard, Florida State freshman linebacker was a shot in the head last Sunday, about a day after the game. So this week has been a weird week. So it's like it compounded everything else between emotional, like genuine emotion, real emotion, really, winning the Alabama game, and and then within 24 hours they're experiencing that.

And then all this week. Then his dad was here on the sideline. Mike Norvell has been spending time this whole week going over to the hospital, giving updates to the team on how Ethan Pritchard's doing. His dad and uncle were on the sideline today. They actually had his dad, Earl Pritchard, break the rock after the game. I can't even imagine that video, I'm sure. Yeah. I assume we'll be out. It's pretty personal, but I'm assuming that'll be out on social media from FSU. And I just can't even imagine the motions in that room. And then Mike Norvell, when we spoke to him today after the game, he was having a hard time just getting through the words. And then the players, you know, Deuce Robinson and Tommy Castellano said, you know, you guys probably don't realize that, hey, yeah, he's a freshman linebacker and we're

juniors and seniors on offense.

But he was at our house all the time, you know, the love that they have for him.

And then they said they, you know, they literally, they dedicated the game for him.
