I can't remember who it was, but they had a guy that was really Stovall maybe, but they had a guy that returned a kick for a touchdown. So it's been a long time, but they cut the lead to 22 to 17. 17, there you go. And then Florida State, Trey Benson breaks off a long touchdown run. Defense gets a stop. and Floressaid ends up putting it away, but it doesn't really feel like a dominating performance.

But what I thought, and what I wrote about in the column is the one trait this team had not shown yet. It's shown it could bludge in an overmatch team in Southern Miss that was just getting a paycheck. It also showed it could come from behind like it did against LSU and Clemson.

What it hadn't shown was against an inferior opponent, when you get a big lead and then you just melt it, you just leak it away, you can rally back and dominate when you need to dominate. And I thought that's exactly what they did. Once they got, it was 22-17. It was dicey. Things weren't

going well. And you just lost Johnny Wilson on the play before. So Trey Benson's run to go up by two scores, I think was like a, all right, now let's resettle, refocus and go dominate. Virginia Tech didn't score again. In fact, Virginia Tech only scored 10 points on the defense the whole game. The defense was fine. The defense was better than fine. That's a good performance.

And the offense scored almost 40. So it's not like you can say

they didn't do well either. It's just that second quarter made it seem closer than it was. But I thought

for the mat, for the large, what am I thinking of, I or what word am I thinking of? Big picture,

maybe?

For the large portion of the game, Florida State was the much better team and played like it. Yeah, and we'll get back to the second quarter. We've got time to get back there. But we'll start off with the first quarter, and that was incredible. I didn't even drink a lot of vodka today. Not yet? Not yet. I mean, I drank some, but not enough for that.

The first quarter, I think Florida stayed out, gained Virginia Tech like 200 or a hundred.

196 to 6. I mean, it's just ridiculous. 196 to 6. Yeah, up 22 nothing. Everything they wanted to do worked perfectly. And they ran the ball well. Jordan Travis ran the ball some. So that first quarter, again, gives you an idea of what this team could be. I think so, and it was good to see. I think, again, Jordan ran well. Jordan had some big runs. We talked about this in the press box. Where he goes in the middle of the field and then ducks real quick, that is a penalty. He got a kid kicked out of the game. He doesn't want to get hurt doing that, and that's a good way to get hurt is to dive down like that so suddenly. Got to figure that out how he's going to run. Is he going to be a runner that tries to get extra yards? He's going to go down too soon. Because Lord knows, this side judge, if he starts even thinking about sliding, he's marking it back nine yards. But yeah, I thought the running game was the best development of the game of the game was seeing what the running running game did because it hadn't done that. It hadn't, it only run for 200 yards once and that was against Southern Miss. Virginia Tech's no great shakes defensively, clearly. But to run for 280 yards for your star running back to have to have 200 yards and two long, long touchdown, it was really good to see. And I think a lot of that is they knew that Jordan would pull it. Jordan showed it early that he might keep it. And yeah, it was just, and when you think about it too, you played the whole second half essentially without Johnny Wilson. You played the whole game without Jehine Bell. I think he was in there on three plays. A handful of snaps.

Those are two of your three biggest weapons. Keon, I think, had three catches. And you put up 40 points in an ACC game. So all things considered, again, a solid, very solid win over an outmatch team, but a very solid win. And you almost covered. You almost covered. It's not the kick return, I are they cover. I like that Trey Benson gave a lot of credit to the offense line and the receivers blocking downfield. I'm not sure really there was a whole lot of receivers blocking downfield. I mean, he just outran their secondary. I mean, we've talked about how fast he can be. Yeah. That was something else. That last one, I thought the dude had an angle on him, And he just turned on the afterburgers. What happened?
