What is it about weeknight football in the ACC, no matter the circumstances, no matter the context, no matter the lead in, it's always a game like this.

And often for Florida State, too often for Florida State in its history, Florida State comes up short.

And Gene, we could probably point to three or four dozen things, plays, moments, instances,

And unfortunately, far too often here we are in a weeknight, and Florida State comes up short in a road game in the ACC.

I mean, it obviously comes out of defense.

Look, the offense didn't have its best game because they had a couple turnovers, a couple missed opportunities.

But at the end of the day, man, you put up 35 points. I mean, you're going to win this 38 points. You're going to win the game usually. But I mean, I was shocked. I mean, what we saw on that defensive side, especially the fact they got manhandled in the line of scrimmage for most of the game. There were periods there where Virginia just kept gushing Florida State, and you knew when their quarterback, Chandler Morris, hurt his hand, and you knew they're going to run every single play, and they just kept running it and running it, and you did not have an answer for it. And we talked about a little bit before we got on the show, Tom, every time they had a, every time it came a key third down or fourth down, it was either going to be a crossing route or they're

going to do the zone read where the quarterback is going to run around the side he scored two touchdowns

doing that and then picked up another key third down i believe late doing that as well and you for whatever

reason you do that so you were out you were out physical on defense and you were out coached in my

opinion on defense and all this talk abouted, in my opinion, on defense.

And all this talk about Tony White, he was school today.

But also the guys in the trenches.

And I don't understand how they can be so dominant against Alabama and then get pushed around against Virginia.
