Sunday, February 9th, 2025. I'm Jessica Rosenthal. A lot can happen when CEOs head to Washington,

and this time around, some of the politically powerful and financially powerful have come together in a

new way in this second Trump administration. And we have had CEOs step in to do things that they

thought would help the country. You think of J.P. Morgan, who also was a vilified CEO in his day.

I'm Ryan Schmels. The midterms aren't until November of next year, but the retirement

announcement of a battleground state senator and a key Trump administration departure have put two key states in the spotlight.

There is that opportunity for them to really test a message that could work.

It's also the first opportunity, really, for them to respond to Donald Trump.

This is the Fox News rundown from Washington. Many Democrats are not okay with the power Elon Musk has been given in this Trump administration,

as his Doge department bulldozes its way through government agencies and departments.

Among them, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who joined other Democrats outside the Capitol this week to speak in protest.

We cannot allow Elon Musk and a small group of people to secretly behind closed doors, take away our privacy, take away our dollars, take away everything we have.

Taking apart not just so-called DEI-related contracts and consulting contracts,

but canceling leases for underused federal buildings.

There's already been really tremendous progress.

Elon Musk spoke on a doge cast last week on X. You know, a rough estimate is that there's at least a few billion dollars a day of savings.

Now, that may sound like a lot, but when you're talking about a federal spending that's $7 trillion, it's actually, you know, we still need to do quite a bit better than we have thus far.
