I want to know where we're going. I want to know where we're staying. I want to know how we're going to do it. Please welcome Brian Kelly.

Thank you for having me. I'm a huge fan and on behalf of all the LGBTQ kids out there happy Mother's Day. I really just like love. How loving of a mother you are and I think that message that you sent this past season is going to impact a lot of kids. So happy Mother's Day.

That is so kind of you to say I really, really appreciate that and really truly one of the main reasons I went back on the show this year. So thank you that that means a lot to me.

1:10.0

And yes, today I'm going to teach everyone how to travel like a housewife. Maybe not Heather, do you bro style. I don't know points and private jets. It's kind of hard to do. But you know, that I get moldy. I can do.

1:24.0

Okay, so let's take it down to the basic. Well, tell me how you got into this because I know like I'm so bad and it takes me a little time to get on the curve. But I had friends that were like, oh, I used my points and I flew for free and I upgraded and I was like, huh, I never really understood it. And then I got into a good groove. But I feel like things have kind of changed.

1:46.0

In the last few years with points and whatnot. So I want to like understand it all. But start from the beginning. How did you get into this. So it actually started in the in the 90s. I was always like a computer nerd, you know, when I was 12 years old.

2:00.0

My dad got a job for a startup and we grew up outside of Philly and he was traveling every week to LA. And one day he came to this is 1995 and he was like Brian, I have all these points. If you can figure out how to use them, our family of six can go on vacation. And you know, most people in the Philadelphia area go to, you know, the Jersey shore.

2:18.0

Maybe the Hamptons like so I was as per coaches 12 year old, I was like, no, we're going to go to the Caribbean. And I figured out how to use all of his miles. I routed my mom and I through Miami to the Cayman Islands.

2:30.0

Because I just read the firm by John Grisham and as a 12 year old like that sounds fierce. Let's go there. And my dad was like, he had no idea like the Cayman Islands where they were. But we had the most amazing trip all for free. So in the 90s, it was like my bonding thing with my dad.

2:45.0

Like how you know, it's subsidy us to business travel. But every year our family one on one killer vacation to the Caribbean. So it's kind of like our consolation prize that you know, he had the travel.

2:56.0

And you know, long story short, it was 2007. I got a job at Morgan Stanley doing all the recruiting for all the college hires. So my job was just fly all over the US recruiting these top tier like computer science students.

3:10.0

So I had a corporate amics and all of a sudden I was my dad. I was traveling all the time. And I called up amics and said, can I get the points because I was doing huge dinners for 50 people. Right.

3:21.0

And they were like, yeah, but you have to pay $95. Most people don't want to do that. But I did the math. And I was like, wait, I'm spending like a hundred grand a month, you know, on all the college fairs.

3:30.0

So I basically learned how to maximize the system. So Morgan Stanley, no one wanted to do expenses. So on my team, I'd be like, hey guys, we can put it on my corporate card.

3:40.0

Everyone was like, Brian, you're the savior. You know, I'm like, I'm going to stay late and do expenses. Meanwhile, I'm like every sheet that I, you know, you stuff to facts in actual receipts. But I'm like to change to change to change. I had millions of amics points.

3:55.0

So even though I was in my late 20s, not making a huge salary during the financial crisis, I mean, I was jetting first class. I flew with Madonna. I would go to the say shelves for long weekends.

4:05.0

And then finally in like 2010, all my friends who thought I had a trust fund. I did not. I was broke as hell. Like I would take the subway to JFK to fly Emirates first class. Like, I had no money.

4:17.0

So in, by the way, Emirates first class. I just know. I mean, if there's one key message you get from this, if you're listening, use your points, you can transfer almost all amics, chase.

4:29.0

Emirates first class, like taking a shower while drinking dumb at 40,000 feet in the sky.

4:35.0

Best thing ever. And it's one of those flights when you fly, you're like, I don't want it to end. Like JFK did you buy was only 12 hours. And my friend and I were like, keep it going. You know, like, take another lap. I know we flew from LAX. It was longer.

4:49.0

Yeah, I know. I kind of wanted to like backtrack to LAX. But anyway, I started a blog in 2010 because I realized like so many people, smart people. Like I would speak to neurosurgeons at dinner parties that would be like, you know, creating world class, like new surgeries,
