So I do not remember exactly where I was when I saw Moulin Rouge for the first time.

I know it was in 2001 when it came out.

But let's just say the images were seared into my brain

and they have remained there ever since.

I mean, I've probably seen this film 50 times.

And each time, April, I am swept into this, like, quasi-historical fantasy dreamscape

that has the most incredible costume and production design

by four-time Academy Award-winning designer, Catherine Martin,

who also happens to be today's guest.

Catherine is a foundational staple of her husband,

Baz Lerman's design team.

She is responsible for creating some of the most jaw-dropping and memorable

costume moments on the screen.
