You may be thinking, well, light, I don't even believe in the idea of a purpose.

In the grand scheme of things, who even cares if we have some sort of purpose?

To be honest, I don't disagree.

But here's the thing.

Does your life have a purpose?

And if it does, how would you even know what that purpose is or where to find that purpose?

These are some questions that can keep you up at night. Some people are 100% convinced that they have

some sort of deeper calling or life purpose, a reason why they were put on this earth.

Other people think that the idea of a purpose is just a story that us Westerners tell ourselves

to make our mundane life feel more meaningful or interesting.

So what I want to do in this spiritual perspective video is examine the idea of a life purpose from every angle. From a scientific

perspective, if something is real, we should be able to measure it. We should be able to predict an

outcome for those who are able to replicate a specific experiment. And so that's how we usually approach big ideas. We start by looking for

hard proof. But how do you measure something like purpose? There's no control group. There's no

experiment that can isolate it. There's no biological test that can scan you and say,

there it is, you've got a purpose. And even if someone says that they feel like they have a

purpose, that's still just their subjective report, because you can find just as many people

that would probably say, you know what, I don't feel like I have any kind of specific purpose.

So the idea of a purpose wouldn't qualify as hard evidence.

So if we're looking for scientific proof that every person has some sort of inherent purpose,

as far as I've seen, there isn't any scientific proof. And then there's the

obvious issue of suffering, right? If everyone's life had a purpose, then what about the people
