I'm going to, welcome to an-new great moments in weed history. This week's episode

afforded me an opportunity to sesh with someone I've known and admired for a long time,

but I really didn't know her backstory. And a delightfully weedy backstory it is, including a cross-country

journey from the depths of cannabis prohibition in the Old South to the epicenter of West Coast

weed liberation in Oakland, California. I'm going to quickly run through some of my guest Amber Center's professional

accomplishments because they're so impressive. But as you'll hear in the episode, her journey

actually began with lots and lots of underground weed growing, hash making, and edible

slanging, you know, the kind of stuff that you don't always put on your resume.

Also, just know that every time I've ever run into Amber at a professional event,

she's either on her way to go smoke or just came back from smoking.

Amber Center is the founder and CEO of Makerhouse, a cannabis house of brands where

she's developed a wide range of products, including groundbreaking pairings of landrace,

cannabis strains, and coffee. That is a dynamic duo. She has also served as the chief operations officer of a prominent cannabis dispensary where

she obtained Oakland, California's first ever on-site consumption permit.

And in addition to her various business ventures, Amber is also co-founder and executive

director of Supernova Women and Organization

formed in 2015 to empower Black and Brown small business owners in the cannabis industry.

In that role, she assisted in the creation of Oakland's social equity program, the first

such program in the country. But before all that, Amber was a shy

young weed nerd who anonymously haunted internet message boards looking for tips on how to
