Welcome to the Daily Poem I'm here in the Close Reeds Podcast Network. I'm David Kern.

Today's Valentine's Day poem is from Romeo and Juliet, Act 1, Scene 5. It seemed an appropriate

place to go on this particular holiday. Quickly, before I get to that, though, I want to just thank

everybody who is sent in

videos and audio of the recitations of their children, having memorized the poetry of J.R.

Tolkien. There have been dozens and dozens, if not hundreds of people who have submitted

recitations. It's really exciting to see all the hard work that these young people are

putting in. The quality of the recitations is incredible.

So I'll be pouring over there over the next few days. There's more than I expected there would be,

and we will be choosing some winners. So give us a couple days to go through all those and narrow the

winners down and communicate with people and all that. Please be patient with us, but thank you so much

for submitting and taking part in that.

And we will have another competition coming up in six weeks or so.

But for now, let's talk about a love poem here on Valentine's Day.
