“I felt like there must be other women like me, who were looking for contemporary fashion in a very curated setting,” says Megan Tamte, Founder and Co-CEO of EVEREVE. After a particularly negative experience in the dressing room of a clothing store, Megan began imagining a store where busy moms and their kids would be warmly welcomed and cared for while shopping for modern and versatile fashion. Seven years later, she realized the importance of following her dream, and sat down to write it into reality.
This episode is full of takeaways, including:
In an era when retail is disappearing, Megan still strongly believes in the power of retail and EVEREVE remains a store-first business. People still love to touch, feel, and talk about the things they’re buying. Eighteen years after opening its first location, EVEREVE has 100+ stores and takes in 300+ million in revenue. Come on in and meet Megan!
Quotes
• "The way I hit my numbers was never through selling, it was always through serving, and being really focused on the customer, using what we do well, and guiding her to what we think she's going to want, because she walked in the store, which is fashion, clothing, an outfit. Using it to serve her and not to sell to her." (31:45-32:09 | Megan)
• “As a leader, I'm a hands-on relational CEO, I am our customer. I love being with our customers, I love talking to our customers, I love talking to our managers, I love relationships, I try on our clothes because we care so much about getting the product right.” (35:29-36:20 | Megan)
• “I think the modern mom cares about her fashion. And she knows that taking care of your fashion isn't frivolous, it's actually part of wellness, it's part of taking care of herself.” (37:30-38:12 | Megan)
