Summary

Eleven months after Oct.7, Israel and the Jewish people are still grieving. Last week we received the terrible news that six hostages were murdered, after surviving for nearly a year. Navigating grief and hope during ongoing heartache and war is extremely complicated to navigate, especially in the wake of such tragic news. In this episode of Unpacking Israeli History, Noam pays tribute to the six beautiful lives taken too soon: Carmel, Almog, Eden, Alexander, Ori, and Hersh. He then shares an interview with Kibbutz Beeri resident Yarden Tzemach about his family’s experience on Oct.7 and its aftermath. Yarden and Noam discuss Kibbutz Beeri’s history and future while reflecting on what it means to rebuild.

Okay, yala, Let's do this. We the people of Israel are prepared and anxious to meet the representatives of our neighbors without any preconditions.

I think.

I believe in trying to look at the bright side. I think in silver linings and

But that doesn't mean I'm not, sometimes, a spectacularly petty person. I have a long list of semi-irrational pet peeves. Pizza crusts with a flimsy undercarriage, the word yummy, I just don't like it, don't ask, not my thing. When people take out the trash, but don't put a new bag in, come on. And what's baristas call out, ice brown sugar oat milk, shaking espresso for Nome.

I mean, okay, Nome isn't as bad as my producer, Rifke getting called Rafiqi,

and I guess it's not as bad as whatever hate crimes get committed on a daily basis against
