history of what God is done throughout the history of the church. Today, we're looking at Acts

Chapter 9, verses 1 through 6

where we're going to see an enemy of the early church become an advocate for the church. Before we get

All right, before we dig into Acts chapter 9, we should pray because we need God's help to both

hear correctly and interpret rightly.

So Lord, help us as we read your word today to understand, first of all, the facts of the

story that occurred way back in the first century, and then secondly, the implications of that

for us today.

We ask you to be our teacher today, Holy Spirit. It's in your name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Okay, Acts chapter 9 verses 1 through 6. I feel like I need to tell you a little bit of the backstory here.

You see, when the church first began growing and these Jewish believers who have become Christians

began telling their fellow Jews

about Jesus as the Messiah. Some of those Jews responded gladly, realizing they had crucified

their Messiah, but others, not so much. They began persecuting the church, and there was this guy

named Saul, who was one of them. He was a Pharisee.

He was one of the religious elites. And he was not just persecuting the church. He was tracking down
