through inspirational productions. Maria shares a little bit about her life as the child of immigrants and the early years of her career. My name is Maria Jose Tennyson and I am the vice president of Brand and Show Production at Sight and Sound Theaters.

I am responsible for the teams that actually work on the development of the productions

in relation to the design, engineering, the

construction of the show, so all the magic that happens to get the show on the stage.

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and my parents immigrated to the states when I was fairly

young, so I don't have a whole lot of recollection of my life in Argentina. I grew up in a suburb of

Los Angeles and to parents who are very courageous and very driven but the fact that they moved from a country without understanding the

language and having to give up their life everything knew, and really starting over. One of the reasons that they left

Argentina was at the beginning of the dirty war in the 70s. The military had taken over the government and life felt uncertain at best. And typical

immigrant story they really believed that they could provide for a better life for their daughters in the United States.

When we first came to the States, resources were tight and we lived in a very small apartment.
