Summary
Welcome to what I am tentatively calling FRO RANTS! FRO RANTS are where I sit down and discuss a specific topic as an audio only podcast.
In this FRO RANT I discuss the death of the photography school. This rant was brought on by the news that Antonelli Institute will be closing it's doors after the next year.
That brought on the question "do you need to go to photography school to be a photographer".
I hope you enjoy this audio podcast, be sure to check out all the other audio podcasts I am making.

| 0:00.0 | Jared Polin, Froonosphoto.com and welcome to the Froonos Photo Audio Podcast. |
| 0:08.3 | As you know, I've been doing more and more audio podcasts because I think it's important. |
| 0:12.6 | And I think that people like, or when I say people, I mean you people, you people listening, enjoy listening. |
| 0:19.1 | Because it's a different medium. I know I love podcasts and I love |
| 0:23.8 | listening to them in the car. They help not only pass the time, but educate me. It feels like |
| 0:29.2 | I'm learning when I listen to certain podcasts, but not all. So from time to time, I think I'll |
| 0:34.7 | just cut in here and tell you about how I'm feeling and the |
| 0:37.8 | things that are on my mind and share different topics and thoughts that go beyond photo news, fix, |
| 0:42.8 | extra, or raw talk, or pictures in my mind. So this time I'm going to talk about, do you need to go |
| 0:50.1 | to college to be a photographer. |
| 1:00.5 | And the reason I bring that up is I just got word that Antonelli Institute, where I went to college, |
| 1:05.0 | which is a two-year photography school, my degree was in what's called applied technology, |
| 1:06.5 | so it wasn't in photography. |
| 1:14.0 | They are going to be shutting their doors shortly after being in business the business of educating students to become photographers and they were they were around for 80 years now the way |
| 1:21.3 | that it works is there's two uh there's first year students and second year students so the current first year students who are on |
| 1:29.4 | summer break are going to be what was I saying I lost my train of thought because I've got |
| 1:37.3 | Facebook open I'm closing Facebook which everybody should do and I should just look at a blank screen |
| 1:42.7 | which I'm going to do right now. |
| 1:52.4 | They're closing after 80 years. And so with the first year students that are on summer break, they will get to finish as second year students, but they won't be taking any new first year |
| 1:57.1 | students. Now, that's upsetting to a lot of people, and some of the people I talk to |
| 2:01.0 | were only able to get into a quote-unquote college, like Antonelli, because they didn't care about |
| 2:06.5 | GPA and they didn't care about your scores on your SATs. Now, you could look at that on the flip |
