Hello, Pod Save the UK fans. It's Nish here. Coco and I are taking a break because I am so tired after my world tour that I am simply going to need to be horizontal for a full seven days. And I imagine I'll be conscious for, on average, two hours per day for each one of those seven. And we're also very excited and need to recharge our batteries because

0:22.3

we've got two massive upcoming live shows with the London Podcast Festival. On Tuesday,

0:27.1

the 2nd of September, in collaboration with Amnesty International, we're doing Stop the Genocide

0:32.1

special with some fantastic guests, including journalist Wael al-Dakdu, Al Jazeera's Gaza Bureau chief, my friend

0:38.9

Jen Bristair, who's been a tireless campaigner for the rights of Palestinian people, and

0:43.5

the indomitable Alexei Sale, who is one of our great political comedians and another person

0:49.1

that has been championing the rights of Palestinian people for a long, long time.

0:53.0

Then on Sunday the 7th, we are focusing

0:55.2

on the future of the left in the United Kingdom with one of the leaders of the movement,

1:00.4

the party that's definitely not called your parties guiding light, incredible Zara Sultanah.

1:05.7

So grab your tickets at the London Podcast Festival and find a link in the show notes. However,

1:28.8

while we're on this break, we thought we'd bring you an episode from one of our favourite podcasts from two of my favourite people that I also kind of hate. Sarah and Carriads Weirdo's Book Club, that's Sarah Pascoe and Carriad Lloyd get together to talk with a special guest about a book each week. They've had some incredible guests talking about some of their favorite books.

1:32.8

We're talking Naomi Klein, Graham Norton, Ashton, Ashton B, and so many more.

1:36.3

So you don't even have to have read the books to listen and enjoy the episodes.

1:41.1

The episode that we're going to play for you is actually the first episode that they ever released.

1:52.6

And what I, in what I can only imagine was a sort of desperate administrative error slash someone dropped out on the day. The guest was me. And it's a very enjoyable podcast episode. We talk about, I'm a fan by Sheena Patel, a book that my so-called

1:59.4

friends, Carrie Ad Lloyd and Sarah Pasco, selected for me to discuss

2:03.0

on this podcast because it's very explicit and they knew it would make me uncomfortable to talk

2:07.6

about it. And that's why they did it. And they told me that's why they were doing it. So do

2:12.3

kick back and enjoy this episode of one of my favorite podcasts by two of my favorite people,

2:17.9

who I also hate, is Sarah and Carriad's Weirdo's Book Club.

2:25.6

Hello, I'm Sarah Pascoe.
