Hey everyone, happy Monday. Welcome back to the podcast. So today I want to loop back to the

0:14.7

conversation that I had on the podcast last week with Benjamin Hardy. Now, at the end of the

0:19.6

episode, he talked to us about Pareto

0:21.8

principle or Pareto's law, which is the 80-20 rule. So the 80-20 rule is essentially a

0:27.8

principle that states that 80% of all of the outcomes that we have are derived from 20% of cause.

0:34.9

So typically people think about this when they're looking at business outcomes,

0:38.6

but it also applies to other areas of our life. Anywhere where we're trying to measure

0:43.3

success, anything that requires something that we're going to do to focus on improving results,

0:49.1

this law and this principle applies to the 80-20 rule. So it got me thinking about something practical that we could all do.

0:57.7

And so when Benjamin was talking,

0:59.5

I actually thought I had a sheet of paper in front of me.

1:02.0

I always have a sheet of paper and a pen in front of me

1:04.6

when I'm recording podcast episodes so that I can maybe drop down notes or questions,

1:08.7

things that come to mind when I don't want to interrupt

1:10.9

them. So I wrote down on the paper 80 on one side and 20 on the other. And I actually thought it would

1:17.7

be really useful to just start listing things. So listing things, I suppose if you're focusing on your

1:23.3

career, listing things down that you have to do as part of your job, as part of your career

1:27.8

progression, as part of your creative output, whatever it is you're working on, just list things

1:33.3

down and then start to push them into one page or the other. Is it on the 80% side, which is

1:40.3

just, I guess, stuff, you know, whether it's meetings, calls, scrolling, what we call

1:46.0

research, which is often just scrolling through social media, look at the things you're doing

1:51.5

with your time, the things you're doing that are actions and actually list them. And I started doing

...
