I'm your host Sammy Sage and the morning announcements is your daily five minute breakdown of the headlines that isn't afraid to take aside and

roast the most consequential reality show there is, our government.

Yesterday the Supreme Court issued a 7 to 2 ruling to uphold a federal law

the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act which gives preference to adoptions and

foster care of Native American children by their own relatives and tribes.

The law was originally passed with the stated intent to rectify the disgraceful history of Native

American children being removed from their homes by the adoption system

and then placed with either white families or in group homes.

The case challenging the law was brought by three non-Native American couples

and three states led by Texas, arguing that it relies on unconstitutional racial discrimination,

rather than the traditional standard of what is best for the child.

Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito were the only two dissenting justices.

Because if anyone knows what is best for children, it is obviously these two social workers.

Remember the National Guardsmen who leaked dozens of classified intelligence documents

to impress his internet friends on discord.

Yesterday a federal grand jury indicted Jack Tishara with six counts of retaining and

transmitting classified national defense information. Someone should maybe set him up

with Walt Nanta? Tishara has been in federal custody since his arrest in April and unlike some other

people who mishandled classified documents he will remain there.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed new legislation known as the Crown Act into law yesterday,

which bans discrimination based on hair texture and protected styles in situations of housing, employment, education, and
