Welcome back, Team. Appreciate you being back with us today. We're in Matthew 9.

Going to jump right in. We're in verse number 18. The Bible says, while he yet spake, or while he spake these

things unto them. So Jesus has just taught there at Matthew'sast. He has helped the disciples of John the Baptist

to understand a bit more about the nature of his ministry. And it says in verse 18, there came a certain

ruler and worshipped him. So obviously understanding the identity of Jesus, saying, my daughter is even now dead,

but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. So this is a story that is told elsewhere

in the gospels, and we know a few more facts about it.

One thing we know is that the man's name was Gyrus. We know that he was the ruler of the

synagogue there in Copernium. No doubt had interacted with Jesus often because Jesus was a frequent

guest, not only in Copernium, but also in that synagogue.

So this man had seen miracles, this man had heard the messages of Jesus, had seen Jesus

speak with authority, and believed on him. And now he had a desperate situation, a daughter

that was at the point of death, and then somewhere in Jesus' journey from the shoreline

to where the ruler of the synagogue lived, probably right next to the synagogue, she died along the way.

And he desperately wanted Jesus to come. If you read the parallel account, he first sent messengers. So just in a

desperate situation, could you imagine if you had a 12-year-old girl? Maybe some of you do. Maybe some

of you are that, you are that 12-year-old girl. Can you imagine a situation like this? And just how
