And April Callahan. Dress listeners, I think that we can all agree

that each of us has had at least one specific moment in our lives.

That later, we look back and we're like, oh, that was the turning point of it all.

You know, the moment when everything kind of changed, but in that moment itself,

it didn't really feel extraordinary.

It just felt very ordinary or commonplace.

And I bring this up because I wonder if the evening of August 11th, 1973,

felt like just another regular Saturday night to teenage Cindy Campbell

when she was getting dressed and preparing for this back-to-school party

that her and her brother were throwing in the Bronx.

Her brother Clive, aka DJ Cool Herk, was set to spin.

And Cindy had spent the days leading up to this date,

distributing flyers and handwritten note cards to promote their party.

But what happened that night, many will agree,

set off a chain of events that altered not only the future of the music industry,

but also, of course, for our intents and purposes, the history of fashion.
