It actually makes rather more sense at second glance than it does at first glance.

I wonder whether we will be saying the same about this free broadband for every home policy proposal.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again.

How have they managed to persuade a country that somehow our economic stability and strength is so mighty that we'll be able to

weather the witless and unnecessary storm of quitting the world's largest trading block,

but we're too poor somehow to put broadband in every home.

And I hear the comments about competition, but actually, surely the corollary of that is, well, if it's a nationalised industry, then there aren't any dividends for shareholders.

Is that the real objection from a certain type of politician?

I genuinely don't know. I'm open to all offers this morning. A little later in the programme, we will be looking at two stories together. One, at first class, perhaps, don't make sense to put them together. But I find myself increasingly puzzled by older people's objections to younger people's attempts to live a better life. I suppose the

apotheosis of it perhaps would be represented by Greta Thunberg. I'm going to 16-year-old

girl trying to make the planet a better place have upset so many old men. It's quite bizarre.

But today, two stories. One about some students, some undergraduates. In this case at Cambridge

University withdrawing beef and lamb from its menus to help reduce carbon emissions. Just, I think,

a couple of colleges down in Cambridge. And the second story, of course, with the gender neutral school uniforms.

When exactly did men of my age become so interested in children's genitals and the choices of clothing that they seek to exercise?

I try and work out, because I think those two stories work together, don't they?

We'll find out a little later in the program.
