Welcome to Ringer Fantasy Football Show,

a.k. The rare NFL draft show. My name is Danny Hyphen. I'm joined by Danny, Kaley, and Grant Krawbeck, and Free Agency has started, kind of, because people are doing all these deals, but also Kyler, Mary, and Gina Smith, and even, too, it cannot actually be cut until Wednesday, but we're recording this Monday, where everyone's signed all these deals. So we're going to go through free agency.

0:38.1

Max Crosby's a Raven.

0:39.9

Both your team's lost your running backs named Ken, which is weird that it happened twice. Mike Evans is a San Francisco 49er kind of on Wednesday. Craig, excited for free agency that's happening and also hasn't happened yet? Yeah, this episode is typically called the Adam Schefter the Adam Schaefter free agency drinking game, but we think Schifty's on to us. He's starting to tweet a little bit more normally. There's not as much to make fun of with Schifty. So, you know, we usually do free agency's nuts. This week is insane. I feel like this morning has been incredibly hectic. And we usually do, you know, the Wednesday episode, the actual day of free agencies really like the end of it. So we call that the hangover. So I feel like today is like the pregame. And honestly, like most pregames, everybody usually just gets too drunk before you even go out. And you end up drinking more at the pregame than you do the bar. And I feel like that's today. Shit is flying around.

1:28.4

There are so many deals. We have like a hundred deals to get to. Today's been crazy. And like a pregame, you think it's going to save you money and then you come home and you're like, can we kind of wasted a lot of this alcohol. I know. Yeah. Some teams are too drunk to even make it to the bar, you know, we'll get to those.

1:43.6

Yeah. So we can go through all these.

1:45.4

I, the one, I didn't think we would start here, but I think to the bar, you know, we'll get to those. Yeah. So we can go through all these.

1:45.4

The one, I didn't think we would start here, but I think we have to, which is just getting into it. And also, this is going to be a little bit of a crazy episode, but follow us on Instagram, follow us on TikTok. And then, yeah, stick with us for the entire draft season, Danny Keller, a draft expert here at the ringer. but we're going to go through free agency.

2:00.4

I think we have to start with the dolphins dumping

2:02.1

to a and signing Malik Willis and quarterback. So dolphins are, one, going to take a $100 million dead cap hit so Tua could go take a hike, which is unbelievable. The contract extension, they signed them to their one year into a four-year extension. And they're just like, yeah, we're good. And so they're going to take one-sixth of their budget this year and then one-sixth of their budget next year so Tua can just go leave and kick rocks. And then they're signing Malik Willis for a deal that's $23 million a year, which is $68 million total, which is about $1 million per completion that Malik Willis has had the last three seasons.

2:37.3

Craig, you're shaking your head.

2:38.2

Well, at least we thought this number could potentially get into the 30s.

2:41.7

So at least cooler heads prevailed a little bit, and this number is a little bit more reasonable.

2:45.8

This is closer to the Fields deal that he signed with the Jets.

2:49.7

It's just crazy, man. So Miami is paying, how much are they paying Tua this year? 60 million? It's going to be $55 million on their cap. It's not the same as what they're paying Tua, but it's going to be a $55 million debt, like just unusable cap. It's out of $300 million. It's just a year to do it though. I mean, they're kind of in a... Yeah, but so this year, they're paying Malik Willis and Tua like $80 million. Yeah, that's correct. Got it. I like this move. Am I the only one on the pod that actually has some faith in Malik Willis? I think it's also a good sign, maybe. I don't know, maybe a good omen that the team that is basically made up of former Packers. So the GM and the head coach come from the Packers. They know Malik Willis very well. John Eric Sullivan, Chad won the GM and then Jeff Halfley head coach Chad too. I mean, the fact that these guys know him and kind of know what he's capable of and watch him in practice last couple of years, I think that bodes well for what, for what they're going to do here. But yeah, it's interesting because we kind of gave up on the dolphins being a option for Malik Willis because they don't have any cap. I'm looking at their cap space. I don't think this has been updated after day. They had 860 grand in cap space. So, you know, the cap is kind of fake. They can spread this thing out over the next couple years. The cap goes up an incredible amount every year. Businesses is going out. Businesses abo-in in the NFL. David Ellison's going to pay more for the NFL. It's fine. It'll always go up.

4:15.6

It's always money in the banana stand, you know? Right. This deal is much more reasonable.

4:18.9

And I will say, do I think Malik Willis is going to be a great player in the NFL when we look back 15 years from now? No.

4:26.9

But like, we've talked about how weird the quarterback market is right now. Like this is a, this is like a decent bridge situation, I think, for Miami. Like the idea of Devon A. Chan and Malik Willis is like, okay, there's something, we might have a stew going from a running game perspective there. But like, this is pure, I mean, the dolphins got rid of Minka Fitzpatrick. I don't think the dolphins have any plans to take down the bills or the Patriots this year. This is like clearly a reasonable bridge deal to see what you got for a reasonable price, I guess. Yeah, I mean, is Malik Willis going to work as a starting quarterback in the NFL? Probably not. That's why he's available in free agency for like the least money of any veteran starting quarterback in the NFL. I just, I keep saying this, but it's he, is he a veteran, is that we're calling him? He's a veteran starting quarterback. Well, by definition that he's no longer on a second contract. I mean, how many, again, how many pass attempts? I think he's a veteran quarterback then, right? Hell yeah. I think Kenny Pickett probably is more completions than the League Willis does. Oh, by a mile.

5:23.5

He probably has 10 times. I mean, that's the thing. It is absurd. I acknowledge it's absurd. Malik Willis has had 94 pass attempts since 2022. What were you guys doing in 2022? Like that is 994 passes. I was on this call with you in 22 doing the same damn thing

5:38.5

nothing's changed but uh well we used to do this episode drunk for the drinking game you know

5:43.1

you know who this is not actually Craig well you guys will like this this is horrible for jalen

5:48.4

wattle this is this is a really tough look i mean fantasy wise we're talking here is it
