Two weeks after its blockbuster launch, Mark Zuckerberg's Twitter killer, Threads, is already

fraying. Hey, everybody, I'm Steve Green with Bill Whittle and Scott Ott, and this is Right Angle,

brought to you by the members of Bill Whittle.com. And gentlemen, I don't know if you're aware of this,

but when Threads launched on July 5th or 6th, they hit 2 million users in the first hour, 5 million users

a couple hours after that, and in just five days they beat all records by getting 100 million

users. Since then, not so much in the 9 or ten days since hitting 100 million.

They're stalled at 112 million.

And get this.

Daily active users, this is just on Android because iOS makes it harder to grab these numbers.

Daily active users dropped in half, more than in half, from 49 million to 23.6 million.

And this is probably the best measure of how little there is to do of any interest on threads.

User engagement, that's the amount of time people actually spend using the app,

dropped from 21 minutes.

That was its peak on July 7, just two days after a launch, to six minutes.

So, yeah, Threads has a problem here. And Bill, I kind of think that Threads launch figures

were kind of a scam, not that they were fake, but that it was too easy to generate them,

because if you had an Instagram account and something like 1.8 billion

people have an Instagram account, you got the invite to check out threads. And if you got it,

and this part was kind of genius, it brought over all of your Instagram contacts and followers

if they were also on thread. So you didn't have to build your friends from scratch on the new platform.

But apparently without anything to do there, people lost interest.

Well, I think probably that incredible opening number that they're so proud of bragging about.
