I have had a practice over the years of getting a little excited in the pulpit and I have broken quite a few pulpit in my day.

I was speaking when I was in my early 20s at First Baptist Church Lubbock and they had a huge pulpit.

They seated about 3,000 people in the building.

And the pulpit had a nice light coming up through it because it had plexiglass on top and had light up to it.

And I made a point and I split the pulpit right down the middle.

Just shattered a glass next time I raised my hand it was bleeding and he was quite impressive

in the message.

When I preached for Dr. Jerry Falwell in my late 20s, he had a huge pulpit

too and I hit it literally split it down the middle, just heartied. The next time I went he had a bulletproof pulpit. He said, he said, we didn't get that one to protect me from all the threats. He said, we got it so you couldn't break it.

Well, now I come to preach in my own church and before I got here

they informed me they had already broken the pulpit. All this duct tape you've been

hearing about it's up here on top of this pulpit right now

holding it together. So the terrorists alert they put it in action right here. I mean this

you can't see it it's taped together and they said whatever you do

don't make any strong points in our church.

It is a joy to be here I want to tell you that I have I've spoken around a lot of very effective

communicators in my day and I've had the privilege of speaking to a lot of people in various

settings. It's tough for me to follow Robert. I kind of feel like a pop gun going off after a cannon.

I believe that he's one of the greatest communicators I've ever heard in my life.

I've considered heard in my life. I considered an honor. I considered an honor to be his friend.

I considered an honor to have been a co-labor with him when he was a part of our

ministry team. And now then I consider an honor for Betty and for me to be a member of Gateway and to every week listen to this man of God, preach the word
