Season 8 New Release: My special guest tonight is Dr. Harry Milman here to discuss his second installment of a series of books detailing the death of the famous but this time the imfamous as well. Get his book Forensics Ii: The Science Behind the Deaths of Famous and Infamous People on Amazon.
George Washington, the former first president of the United States, lay in his bed suffering from a high fever, a raw throat, and labored breathing. His three physicians milled around his bed, treating Washington with blisters of cantharides, tartar emetic, and bloodletting, removing nearly 40 percent of his total blood volume and causing excruciating pain. When Washington finally was relieved of his misery and died, the three doctors could not agree what caused his death.
Forensics II: The Science Behind the Deaths of Famous and Infamous People reads like a mystery novel, presenting biographical and scientific information that helps readers understand how medical examiners-coroners utilized forensic analysis to determine the causes and manners of death of thirty-six famous and infamous people, including Napoleon Bonaparte, a French military leader and politician; Charles Whitman, the University of Texas tower shooter; Bruce Lee, an actor and martial artist; Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana; Jim Jones, a key figure in the Jonestown massacre; Aretha Franklin, a singer-songwriter; Alexander Litvinenko, a former officer of the Russian Federal Security Service; Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender; and many more. The book is based on a review of publicly available autopsy and toxicology reports, published lay articles, and the scientific literature. Of the deaths reviewed, 39 percent were due to natural causes, 19 percent were accidental, and 6 (17 percent) were suicides. The remaining deaths comprise three cases each of homicide and justifiable homicide by police, one case of court-mandated execution, and three cases in which the manner of death was undetermined.

1:18.6 | Yeah, it's people basically were not famous, but they were not famous for their life, but they became famous for their death. |
1:27.6 | And when I say that they became famous, I mean, the 15 minutes of fame, the one really famous in the full sense of the word, but that's different than unusual in many cases. |
1:40.6 | So that's what I'm writing now, and the book after that, just to keep your breath would be guilty until proven innocent. |
1:51.6 | That's about people who are, you know, have guilty and then maybe spend 30 years in jail, and then were, you know, their verdict was overturned for various reasons. |
2:02.6 | So I'm going to be discussing that as well, as well as issues and the forensic slabatories, you know, cheating and making mistakes, and that sort of thing. |

2:50.6 | Harry, can you tell me like, like one of the people that you had on there was David Kuresh and I think it's really great timing because they have a really good documentary about Waco on Netflix right now. |
3:08.6 | So I'm going to put that at the forefront of your interview here. What made you choose him first of all? |
3:15.6 | The object of the second book initially, the first one was about famous people and they were primarily in the entertainment industry. |
3:22.6 | So the second book was going to be mainly infamous people. |
3:30.6 | And I wanted the first, the first one had 23 people and many of the readers said they were so intrigued by the book that they, you know, they couldn't put it down and the finished reading it in one sitting. |
3:44.6 | And I didn't want the second book people to finish it in one sitting. So I want to make it a little bit bigger. |
