Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I share poetry and prose that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead.

Today's piece is called for changing relationships,

encouragement and helpful reminders for the heart. For the one who is seeing a meaningful

relationship start to change. You have known what it means to be close to someone in the way that it seems to only go up from here.

You have known what it means to have a bond that seems like it could only grow stronger with time.

And yet, you have also known what it means to be surprised by the way it fell apart. To see the steady level of

trust you shared slowly begin to tear at the seams. I hope that in this place, you find peace

in the deep well of your emotions. I hope you see that even though knowing peace doesn't mean you'll know

why things turned out the way they did, you can still find peace to keep breathing. May you find peace

to keep going, even when you don't get the closure you were longing for. May you find peace while trusting. Even here, there is more in

store. As you travel through the coming days and coming weeks, you might feel the weight of what

will never be the same. Even many years from now, you might think about yesterday wondering what you could have done differently.

And this is also true. You can choose to believe that tomorrow will be beautiful too.

Perhaps it will look different than what you expected, but you are still being directed where

you need to be, even when one of your most meaningful bonds has

unraveled at the seams. I hope from this moment forward you can choose to keep going, even without

knowing what connection will look like in the days and years to come. I hope you find freedom,

freedom to carry on within grace,

knowing that even if you have to grieve what was as long as you are still living, there will be other days. There will be other ways to connect. There will be other ways to know love. Hold on. Trust. Allow yourself to be

undone where you need to be undone. And find in grace that even in the unraveling,

there is still more to come. And finally, remember this. This reality, idea that there is still more to come, it doesn't mean that

you're replacing what was. There will never be another relationship like the one you've had to say
