On the football field, Brian Padda was destined for success.

Brian was a first-generation Haitian American who grew up in Miami, Florida.

Locally, he was a football legend, so it came as no surprise that he'd continue to showcase his athleticism during his collegiate career.

The 22-year-old defensive lineman for the Miami Hurricanes had a bright future

ahead of him. Throughout his college career, Brian played in 41 games, making 23 starts, and was

expected to be selected in the NFL draft in the spring of 2007. However, Brian never lived to know if he would make it to the pros.

On November 7, 2006, just two hours after the hurricanes concluded their afternoon practice,

Brian was shot and killed outside of his apartment complex.

The senseless murder rocked the community and the U-Miamy campus. The team mourned together

and honored Brian's legacy, unaware that the person responsible for the cold-blooded crime

may have been among them. I'm Emily Campano, and this is the Fox True Crime podcast, Crimes on Campus. For 15 years, football star Brian Paddiz's murder remained a mystery in Miami.

That tragic night, Brian had returned to his home in Kendall just minutes away from the

U Miami campus. Some witnesses claim to have heard arguing, followed by loud gunshots.

Moreover, an unidentified person was witnessed fleeing the parking lot of the crime.

Law enforcement began their investigation, interviewing over 100 people, and focusing in on over a dozen potential leads.
