Action Network and also on X at HP Basketball. Matt, thanks for a couple of minutes today. How are you? Doing well, man. How are you? Doing really well. And the construction around the best player in the NBA for several years running, Nicole Yokic has always been a question mark. And we're starting to see that now in real time. What can the team do this offseason to maybe patch together and put together a real contender? Yeah, man, look, I think it's going to take major change. I just think you have to kind of come to grips to the fact that there's things that are different from 2023. Most notably, Jamal Murray is a lot worse defensively. Yokic is a lot worse defensively. And that combo means he can't really keep him together. So with Jamal Murray's playoff struggles, even after an all-NBA year where he was so good, he was great in the locker room, he was a leader for this team, he did everything he needed to. If you're going to keep Nicola Yokic, I think you have to be open to the idea of trading Jamal Murray, that you move him for a point guard that doesn't need the ball, that can shoot, that can set the floor, they can handle, but can also probably defend a little bit better. I think that's probably going to have to be on the table. Aaron Gordon is the other question. Unable to play in the last two post seasons because of his soft tissue injuries. There's concern about those repeatedly coming up and causing him problems and making it to where he's unavailable. He's so valuable and he's so beloved in Denver, but if he's not available, this is kind of where it gets tough. You have to make really ruthless decisions about how to build this team if you're going to rebuild around Yokic. And like a lot of this is going to have to start with Yokic. It's like Yolkish has to bring a better attitude and a better approach because I thought the entire year, really the last two years, he's moped and he's been moody. And then in these playoffs, I really felt like he put them in that hole. Jamal Murray was terrible in game six, but he led them in games one and a big leading game two before they, before they collapsed. Yokin didn't bring it. So they're going to have to figure out a way to get Yokish-engaged at the level that he needs to be going into |
| 2:17.8 | the back half of his career. He had a great line after the game. If this was Serbia, we all be fired. |
| 2:23.4 | Will there be a coaching change? You know, people close to the team were really reluctant about that. |
| 2:29.7 | They were pretty adamant that wasn't going to happen closer to game five. But in my experience, |
| 2:36.3 | having covered the team for as long as I have 14 years now, what generally tends to happen |
| 2:40.1 | is there's one sense in the building and then there's another one when Stan Cronkey, the owner |
| 2:43.8 | walks in and says, my money is not being used effectively here. I am paying for something I did |
| 2:49.6 | not pay for. I think that there is a very good chance that Adelman is gone by Monday. I am paying for something I did not pay for. I think that there is a very |
| 2:52.4 | good chance that Adelman is gone by Monday. I do say there's a lot of confidence him internally, |
| 2:56.5 | both Yolkich and Murray spoke up for him after game six and defended him so that it wasn't on |
| 3:01.6 | him. But I do think that you have some issues with in terms of how much the team was prepared |
| 3:07.1 | and how intense the team was. |
| 3:08.7 | They wanted a cooler head after Michael Malone. |
| 3:11.4 | That's why all the players wanted David Adelman, but I do think that going forward, |
| 3:15.0 | they might need a stronger voice in the locker room. |
