Love is love is the rallying cry of the modern LGBTQ plus movement, declaring that love is universal

among everyone. But in the past, the love that dared not speak its name found other ways to

express itself through photography.

Photography allowed loving couples to document their relationship even if they had to hide

the pictures away in drawers or books for fear of being discovered.

Thankfully, photograph collectors and real-life married couple, Hugh Neeney and Neil Treadwell,

have uncovered thousands of intimate photos of same-sex couples, many of which are featured

in their new book, Loving, a photographic history of men in love, 1850s to 1950s.

Today, Hugh Neenie and Neil Treadwell, join us to take a look at these marvelous photographs from
