The Philadelphia Flyers are back home and back in the playoff race, maybe, after a successful

three-game road trip on the West Coast in California. They won all three games, and now they

are back to try to keep that momentum going this week in Philadelphia. I'm Charlie O'Connor,

the PHLY Flyers and PHLY Sports. These are your Flyers post-practice notes it's fair to say that in the wake

of their january swoon most local fans and national hockey fans gave the flyers up for dead in terms

of having a shot at making the playoffs but suddenly the flyers are on the verge possibly of getting

themselves right back in the thick of things now there's still five points out of the final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference

and five points out of the final spot in the Metropolitan Division.

But they did win their last three games, all against quality Western Conference teams,

the LA Kings, the Anheim Ducks, and the San Jose Sharks.

They're on a three-game winning streak,

and they could, with another few wins, be right back in the thick of things. Tuesday's game against

the Columbus Blue Jackets is going to be a game that decides just how for real the Flyers are

in terms of getting back in this playoff race. They lost to this Columbus Blue Jackets team two Saturdays ago in extra time.

Now they have another crack at a club they are chasing in the standings.

Not only are they chasing the Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets are one of those teams.

That's five points up on the Flyers.

They currently hold that third spot in the Metropolitan Division.

So if the Flyers can win Tuesday's game in regulation, do what they couldn't do two Saturdays ago. They

would cut that deficit to just three. And then you're really right back in the mix. The Flyers did get
