Unfortunately, to review the first loss of the season for the Noles as they dropped one in double overtime on the road in Charlottesville to Virginia.

Guys, I'll just open up the floor here.

Let's start.

Let's start defense, and it's kind of a little more top of mind for me.

Upon rewatch, what were some of the things defensively that may be more encouraged,

or are they not encouraged?

Encourage?

More encouraged by, less encouraged by.

I guess it would be discouraged if I could use some words tonight else talk you're like i clearly just don't don't have tonight chuck what's you got what you got chuck i like the effort um i think hearing tony white talk about some of the things

makes you feel a little better um They sound very fixable alignment issues.

Nile and actually we were discussing in pre-show,

but just guys lining up, probably shaded the wrong way,

can create such a disadvantage for the defense,

which allows some of those big plays.

It was frustrating to see just the effort in tackling,

and guys have to stop going for big hits and trying to force the fumble and just get the guy to the ground sometimes.

You could actually read Norville's mouth when Earl Little went for the big hit.

And he's like, wrap his ass up and bring him to the ground.

Like that needs to just be the slogan for the defense rest of the year because a lot of it is just that simple. Don't go for big hits and don't go for fumbles. Just wrap them up and bring them down. You know, six yards is better than 60. And we saw that a couple times where, you know, if they just would have got them down, it probably changes the complexion of the game at times. So that was, you know, I think a lot of stuff is correctable, which I think is good. It wasn't as bad in the live action when we're watching it. So let's go ahead and bring this up here. I'll try to zoom in on this a little bit if I can. But for anybody who's watching on YouTube, I think you'll really enjoy this. This is from our friends at Stats Bomb. I did some consulting for them back in the day here on their stats product. But this chart right here, if you're watching on YouTube, and I'll walk you all through it. When we did the instant reaction live on Friday night, we're like, man, they had a lot of, if they just get the guy down at first contact or even close to first contact, then you're creating a real positive following down for the defense. You know, it's, hey, it's second and eight as opposed to, you know, second and four, right? And I think this defense is certainly one that with the variety of different zone coverages and match stuff, they want to with some of the zone blitzing and some of the same pressures they want to do.
