She'd spent 22 years in the Navy and had retired as a lieutenant commander.

For years, she'd lived with her spouse and child in the city, but midlife had brought a lot of changes.

The house was a split level with a detached garage and a short chain link fence lining the property.

And there was a park only a few hundred yards away.

According to local writer Tim Gilbert, that little park in Jacksonville doesn't have a name.

If you look it up online, pictures show a wide flat expanse dotted with palm trees and evergreens and log posts that mark the property line at regular intervals.
