Outside the window, Clem can see it's a crisp autumn day.

Brown leaves flutter and dance over the ground in the muted daylight.

He just finished his lunch and is now savoring a cup of hot cider as he daydreams.

Steam rising from the cup carries just a hint of cinnamon. He takes a sip.

The tart apple flavour reminds him of last autumn and the one before that.

Clem looks outside and feels his eyes relax as they follow the leaves in the trees,

blowing in the wind. Even though the view is the same as it has always been,

the light is bluer and colder than it is in the summer.

It has that special quality that comes now as the year winds down.

Today is the day he'll dust off his Thanksgiving recipes.

He keeps them in a special red fabric covered recipe book in a cabinet alongside extra

crockery and a set of coffee mugs. Opening the cabinet doors, he sees it straight away.

The weight of the little book in his hands is familiar and comforting.

It makes him think of all the other holidays spent with the people he loves.

Clem flips the book open to the right place. Then he finds a notepad and starts

jotting down the ingredients he'll need for all the food he plans to prepare.

With Thanksgiving just a day away, it will be busy, but he's confident it will be a success.
