Well, thanks for joining me again this week. I'm Jeff Kavens, and today we're going to talk about 5 Essentials to Overcome Sin.

You might be thinking to yourself, well, I've tried this before, but it didn't work. Well, yes, it will.

We're going to talk about overcoming sin, and we're going to look at this whole idea of understanding what's really happening in sin in our life, and what is the goal of sin?

And I want to draw from St. Pope John Paul II, because I think he can help us understand a bit more what sin really is.

I'm talking about the inner dynamics, your relationship to God, your relationship with the Father.

You know, John Paul II says that all sin really is a rejection of the Father.

And when you think about it, you'd have to come to the same conclusion that doesn't matter what it is in life.

As far as sin goes, there is either an explicit or implicit rejection of the Father.

His love, his security, his provision, his direction, his correction, all of these different things.

If we reject the Father, then we're going to find ourselves in a whole basket of trouble.

And that basket is called sin. So we're going to take a look at that.
