And they did that in England as well as in the colonial Americas.

where public executions used to take place.

And you'll see that also in Salem.

In about 20 years, they did the same thing

and hung them at the bottom of a hill,

not on top of a hill,

usually because the convicted would be in a cart and it just wouldn't make sense

to haul everybody up there.
