1:00.8	Well today on the show we're talking about J.R.R. Tolkien, Jesus and the Lord of the Rings.
1:06.8	J.R.R. Tolkien of course was really the father of modern fantasy adventure writing,
1:11.7	the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings became classics after they were published.
1:16.0	And they've of course become blockbuster films as well. Tolkien was a Oxford Don,
1:20.8	a professor of English language and literature, and part of the Inklings of course,
1:24.7	a group of friends who met to discuss their latest books and ideas. It included CS Lewis,
1:29.4	Charles Williams and Owen Barfield. But not that many of Tolkien's readers, or those who have
1:35.2	watched the films, would necessarily have been aware of Tolkien's devout Catholic faith,
1:39.4	and fewer still perhaps how that faith informed the world he created in his books.
1:45.2	But two Christian scholars have recently published books tracing the themes and influences
1:50.3	in Tolkien's work. Michael Johoski is the author of the recently published book,
1:54.5	The Good News of the Return of the King, the Gospel in Middle-Earth, in which he argues that
