Well today on the show we're talking about J.R.R. Tolkien, Jesus and the Lord of the Rings.

J.R.R. Tolkien of course was really the father of modern fantasy adventure writing,

the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings became classics after they were published.

And they've of course become blockbuster films as well. Tolkien was a Oxford Don,

a professor of English language and literature, and part of the Inklings of course,

a group of friends who met to discuss their latest books and ideas. It included CS Lewis,

Charles Williams and Owen Barfield. But not that many of Tolkien's readers, or those who have

watched the films, would necessarily have been aware of Tolkien's devout Catholic faith,

and fewer still perhaps how that faith informed the world he created in his books.

But two Christian scholars have recently published books tracing the themes and influences

in Tolkien's work. Michael Johoski is the author of the recently published book,
