Summary

(This episode is a re-run. Original airdate was November 23, 2021)

Make the most of your time (and your money). Today, Alex (@AlexHormozi) talks about the mistake he’s been doing with his company for two years that made him lose millions of dollars, how he was able to spot the problem, and how taking a step back to find the problem will help you see if your system is maximized to its fullest potential.

Welcome to The Game Podcast where we talk about how to get more customers, make more profit per customer, and keep them longer, and the many failures and lessons we have learned along the way to $100M in sales. We've got roll-up-your-sleeves kind of hustle with a little bit of cleverness and a lot of heart.

Hey guys, real quick. So Layland, I are definitely working on our social media presence if you guys haven't noticed.

0:04.1

And we're just breaking now into LinkedIn. Alright, it's not as bad as I thought.

0:07.9

It's actually been pretty awesome so far and you guys have been really cool in there and people are sharing our stuff a lot.

0:12.2

So if we aren't connected, on LinkedIn, go ahead and let's connect and let's rock and roll.

0:17.0

And so the reason I tell this story is because I just missed out on a bunch of revenue that I should have been able to make

0:22.5

because we were solving the wrong problem.

The wealthiest people in the world see business as a game.

This podcast, the game, is my attempt at documenting the lessons I've learned on my way to building acquisition.com into a billion dollar portfolio.

0:36.1

My hope is that you use the lessons to bring your business and maybe someday soon partner with us to get to a hundred million dollars and beyond.

0:40.8

I hope you share and enjoy.

So I was sitting in my quarterly leadership meeting where everyone had flown into Vegas.

0:47.7

I have for two days to talk about the next quarter in our goals for the company.

0:52.0

And I stood there and I was listening to what they were saying and I wanted to light my head on fire.

0:56.8

What transpired next was a problem solving process that I want to share with you because it's unlocked 10 million to 12 million dollars in annual revenue for us that we had not been able to unlock for two quarters because of one simple misdiagnosed problem.

1:13.2

And so the purpose of this is to hopefully get you to one avoid making that mistake but to be able to use this framework so that you can solve the right problems in your business.

1:21.2

So inside of our quarterly meeting for two quarters in a row my sales manager set the goal that they wanted to add six more outbound rooms to quarters in a row quarter came quarter left quarter came quarter left.

1:35.6

This is the third time that I've been hearing them make this goal and everyone was nodding their heads and writing them down and it seemed like everything was hunky dory.

1:43.6

And I stopped and I was like guys we've had this goal for for two quarters.

1:48.4

Why do we expect it to be any different this time to set the same goal nothing's going to happen and for context the reason I said 10 to 12 million is because every outbound rep generates about two million dollars a year in revenue for my business.

1:59.8

And so for me to have six more reps is about 12 million dollars so I'm not just pulling that out of nowhere that's where it comes from back to the story.

2:05.2

I asked him was like why weren't you able to do this it's like well you know we lost a couple reps this last quarter even though we hired some new ones and we pretty much have the same amount as we we had four.

2:15.6

And I was like and is that would happen the quarter before that too he's like well yeah I was like then how are you going to solve this problem.
