Our goal for the Maxwell Leadership Podcast is to add value to leaders like you who multiply value to others. And today we are adding value to you in a very special way because we have some guests with us––Barbara Brown, and Mayce Delvalle––who will join Mark for the application portion of this episode after John’s lesson.
You see, John’s lesson today is all about finding your passion and following it! And, these two amazing women work with the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team as Program Advisors. In a nutshell, they help people do exactly that––find their passion as leadership coaches, speakers, leaders, and entrepreneurs, and get them on the track to pursuing their dreams––just like the rest of our 43K certified coaches in 165 countries! So, don’t miss our post lesson discussion!
Our BONUS resource for this episode is the “Find Your Passion and Follow It Worksheet,” which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John’s teaching. You can download the worksheet by visiting MaxwellPodcast.com/Passion and clicking “Download the Bonus Resource.”

1:06.0 | Now, John's lesson today is all about finding your passion and following and chasing after that passion and these two amazing leaders work with the Maxwell Leadership Certified team as program advisors. |
1:21.0 | Now here's what that means in a nutshell. They help people do exactly that. Find passion and following. See, they help people become better as leaders, as coaches, as speakers, as trainers and even entrepreneurs and help them get back on track to pursuing their dreams. |
1:43.0 | So they have been a part of bringing on board 43,000 certified coaches in 165 countries. So I cannot wait for our post lesson discussion. |

2:16.0 | We have a great lesson. John is ready to go. There's a great discussion going to happen after John's lesson. So grab a sheet of paper, grab that worksheet you downloaded, have a pen and get ready because here is John's C Maxwell. |
2:33.0 | If you'd love to do what you do, it's not work. You know what I'm saying? I love to do what I do. And there are three classes of people. |
2:51.0 | Number one, those who don't know what they'd like to do. And just beside that, put the word confused. How many of you know somebody just like that? |
3:00.0 | And that's where they have no clue. You know what I mean? They just kind of get up in the morning and go through life. But nobody's home there either. You know what I'm saying? |
3:08.0 | And they don't know what they'd like to do because you ask, what would you like to do? And they just kind of look at you and you know, you get a blank face and they don't have a clue. |
3:14.0 | So the first guys of people is the kind of person that they don't know what they'd like to do. The second class of person is they know what they would like to do, but they don't do it. |
3:24.0 | And beside that, put frustrated because I know people just like that. Don't you? In other words, they know what they'd like to do. In fact, they'll tell you what they like. They'll like to be this. I'd like to do this. I'd like to go there. And you say, well, why aren't you there? And why don't you do that? And they don't. |
3:39.0 | The nowhere said, no, what they'd like to do, but they don't do it. They don't seem to have the initiative, the energy, whatever it is, takes to get to where they want to be. |
3:45.0 | And so they kind of go through life knowing what they'd like to do, but never doing it. And so therefore, they're frustrated. Now the third class of people, those who do what they'd like to do. And you can put beside that, fulfilled. They're fulfilled. |
4:00.0 | They have a sense of significance and fulfillment in their life. And they're saying, I'm accomplishing something that brings worth to me, but also worth the others. And they rarely like to do what they do. |
4:11.0 | Now this lesson really is for class number two, the second class person. That's people that they know what they'd like to do, but they don't do it. And the whole lesson is why not do what you'd like to do. |
4:21.0 | So what I did is I sat down and I began to ask myself, how can I help a person do what they'd like to do if they're not doing it? And I wrote down some questions. |
4:32.0 | And I think these questions are going to really help that person. So let's get going. Do I like what I'm doing now? That's exactly where you start. |
