Summary

Dan and Nick break down the All-22 coaches film of the Giants defense in their WEek 5 win over the Seahawks. They break down just how dominant a performance it was outside of the two minute drill before half, one drive Seattle used tempo and late-game conservatism as Shane Bowen tried to bleed clock. In the process, they provide deserving flowers for individual performances by Shane Bowen, Deonte Banks, Cordale Flott, Micah McFadden, Tyler Nubin and more with an extended focus on Dexter Lawrence’s dominant performance – in addition to how he derailed the entire game plan for Seattle. Finally, they hand out superlatives for the defense in this game.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

I'm Dan Schneier.

Join as always my host, Nick Vallado. It's a fun week to break down tape on the Giants, baby, because, yeah, the final score is what it was. But my God, did the Giants dominate this football game? There's a 14-point swing that changed the whole final score. Without that, the Giants are winning this game by two, three possessions. a dominant performance. The film backs it up defensively.

My God, this was, it all came together. I felt like for the Giants defense in this game. And I'll say this, they played an incredible impressive game, Nick, against the Browns. But we're seeing fast that everyone plays a good game against the Brown. Even the Washington Commanders defense looked phenomenal against the Browns.

1:31.3

But that's not the case for the Seattle Seahawks.

1:35.2

A lot of teams have struggled with the Seattle Seahawks offense with Ryan Grub coming over and designing a really good game plan for them.

1:37.9

With Gino Smith, arguably playing better football than a lot of quarterbacks going into this game.

And yet the Giants defense almost entirely shut down this offense. Yes, they gave up some points and some drives. To me, Nick, I felt like the only times the Giants were susceptible here, for the most part, obviously a few plays here and there were when Seattle went to tempo and when Seattle played at the end of the game where Giants kind of went off what they were doing and they played

a little bit more. I don't want to call pre-vent, but a little bit conservative. A little bit conservatively with the idea in mind, but from Shane Bone, which I respect, which is we can let some clock bleed out here. We're in a position where we have that ability to. We'd rather do that and give up the big play. But before that, man, just some unbelievable game plan. I thought this was the game,

2:18.3

Nick. This was my main takeaway, and I'll get to yours right after this, where this was what they

were planning, right? Like, this is what they built. They built out a team where they can drop seven,

rush four, and still disrupt plays. And there were so many plays on film in this game, where they
