My name is Brian Sauer, and I am joined as always by the man who lives in shadows,

0:19.2

Mr. Elricane.

0:20.1

How are you doing, sir?

0:21.0

I'm pretty hard-worn. I do live in shadows. It's dark in here. It's an elusive

0:26.1

phenomenon. I'm just out of reach, just like a film noir.

0:29.2

Yeah, so that's what we're doing. We, you know, we love the tradition of noir Vember

0:34.2

and tend to participate each year, but we haven't done a proper

0:38.0

noir Vember episode, maybe ever? Because I feel like our noir episode, maybe our first one,

0:44.5

did that land in November the first year? I don't even remember. It might have. We did noir,

0:47.9

we did neo-neo-noir way back when. I think it's very purposeful because it does seem, I don't know, it's not cheesy.

0:56.0

I love that noir Vemba exists, but I also do feel like it's for doing a show. It's a little too

1:00.7

predictable. So I think for a couple years, we purposely avoided it. And I think partially because

1:06.1

also we don't think we had a hook for a new episode. And we had a hook and you know number one the goal

1:12.5

has to be the same running time as a film noir so if this episode is over uh what like 76 to 84

1:19.7

minutes uh we've already gone too long yeah um but uh no i think i think we had we kind of had a hook

1:25.8

like one of our samplers and we kind kind of thought, okay, let's do.

1:28.9

And it kind of, I think originally it was going to be noir tropes.

1:32.0

And we were going to look at, pick different noir tropes and pick a film for each.

1:35.9

It still kind of is, but we just called it noir sampler more or less.

1:40.1

Yeah, yeah.

1:41.1

And we have our five slots, as we typically do on these noir, or sorry, these sampler episodes in general, which is always fun. And it's always fun to sort of shoehorn things into back into certain categories or whatever. Before we start, one of the categories is going to be neo-noir. And I just wanted to talk about this at the top.
