is coaxed into taking an adventure on the eve of his wedding, he has little choice but to say yes,

and step out into the wider world.

Let's take a moment to settle into the world of the story.

I'd like you to imagine gentle sloping hills, thickly covered with soft green grass and fragrant wildflowers.

When a breeze ripples the grass, you might catch glimpses of the brightly painted wooden doors set into the hills.

Behind these doors are the burrows of the hill dwellers who have lived in Green County

for as long as time itself.

The hill dwellers are peaceful, cheery and home-loving.

They avoid travel and excitement, and they certainly do not seek out adventure.

But from time to time, adventure comes to them. And adventure is about to come to Fern Bramblebar at a most inconvenient time.
