Meanwhile, in an unrelated story, basically every pitcher that the Red Sox need to pitch while the postseason pitched yesterday and sucked.

0:29.4

Oh, did they ever?

0:32.4

Seriously, the four most important guys on the staff.

0:35.1

Four for four or O for four, no matter how you look at that.

0:35.8

In order.

0:36.8

Price sucked.

0:56.7

Sale sucked. Barnes sucked. Kimball sucked. They all sucked. Who's the most concerning? Sale, absolutely. Sales number one on the list. There's no two ways about it. He's the horse. You know, that's the wrong word for him. He is the nucleus. Yeah, he's the guy. I mean, he's the guy that it's all built around. Hell, you went out and got Chris Sale because David Price couldn't do it for crying out loud.

So it's all built around. Hell, you went out and got Chris Sale because David Price couldn't do it for crying out loud. So it's all about sale. So to me, that was disturbing last night. You know, this is the Wednesday before the playoffs now we're talking about. Playoffs are a week away. He's only got three games left. Quote unquote final tune-up. Yes. He's supposed to go, according to the manager and the GM, six in one hundred, six innings, 100 pitches.

1:14.3

He goes 90. unquote final tune-up. Yes. He's supposed to go, according to the manager and the GM, six and 100, six innings,

1:13.1

100 pitches.

1:14.5

He goes 90 and 4 in 2 thirds, and his velocity goes down for the fourth straight game to the lowest

1:19.2

of his career.

1:20.3

His velocity in this game was, fact, the lowest of his career.

1:25.3

So again, I went back and watched it this morning, right? Because I was out last night, as you know. And so I went back and watched it this morning, and he started the game throwing nothing but changeups on sliders. Like no fastballs at all. So initially I sort of started thinking. Now, by this point, I already knew what had happened, but I sort of thought, okay, well, maybe he went into the game and said, no, no, this is about refining off speed stuff in this game. I'm not going to throw a ton of fastballs in this game. But then when he did throw fastballs, it just wasn't there. And I'll tell you, there were some that got to 93, 94 miles an hour. And normally I would look at that number and say, oh, there's more there. And you know what? Honestly, that's probably enough if he puts it in the right place. But in this case, there was no life on it either. It wasn't a live 93 or a live 94. The ball fell dead to me. And so when you add it all up, and then I saw the stat this morning, the one you just mentioned about that's the lowest average velocity in any start he's had in his big league career.

2:21.9

I don't know how you don't get nervous about that.

2:24.7

I thought somewhere along the line here in this road back, I thought that Sale was going to have a game where they said to him, cut it loose.

2:33.4

Cut it loose.
