The annual channel media and market research survey is out.

Good jumping off points to some big picture discussions here in Boston sports, including

Page five, Vinny, the very first question, I believe in the whole survey.

Which of the following is your favorite sports team?

Can only pick one.

So who's your favorite?

Patriots are number one at 47%.

That is down 4% from last year, but holding steady in that 50% range.

Okay, 47% said New England Patriots number one.

30% said the Boston Red Sox number two.

Third, the Boston Celtics at 14% and the fourth Boston Bruins at 8%.

To me, that is a significant shift.

I've been sort of waiting for this for years for the Celtics to pass the Bruins.

And this is the first year in the history of the survey that that's happened. Now, they have results that go back seven years. I thought they started this actually the year before that in 11, but maybe 2012 was the first year. I can't remember. But in the seven years, they give you starting 2012. So for the last seven years, it's the first time in seven years here that the Celtics have finished ahead of the Bruins.

And significantly so, 14 to 8.

I don't know if you think that's significant or not.

Last year, the Bruins were ahead 13 to 10.

The year before that, the Bruins were ahead 16 to 8.

In 2015, they were over the Celtics by a 23% to 6% margin.

I mean, that's the one that sticks out to me.

That was the year.
