Good Thursday morning. I'm Adrienne Hurst and welcome to your Politico Playbook audio briefing.

Today is the big reveal for President Biden's immigration bill. Congress and the rest of us are waiting with bated breath. But the thing is, not even Biden is totally sold on the plan.

We'll fill you in on why in a minute, but first, Playbook co-author Tara Palmeri has a little juice to go with your

coffee this morning. Hey, Playbookers, here's a scoop for you. Minority Whip Steve Scalise,

he made the pilgrimage tomorrow, Lago Tuesday, to meet with the king of the GOP, you know,

former president Donald Trump while he was fundraising in the area. the GOP, you know, former president Donald Trump, while he was

fundraising in the area. That trip by Scalise, the number two House Republican, comes weeks

after minority leader Kevin McCarthy sat down with Trump last month. It shows that Scalise is loyal

to the departed president. And unlike McCarthy, who called for Trump censure following the January 6th

attack and then moved on to patch things up, Scalise has never formally rebuked the president.

So get this. The two top Republicans in the House are hitching their wagons to Trump.

This is while Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and

Liz Cheney, the person below them, the number three House Republican, have completely blasted Trump

and ditched him. Now, Scalise has ambitions to one day be the Speaker of the House. And if he's going to do

that, he may need the support of the most popular man in the GOP. That is, the former president

Donald Trump, for now. On another note, Trump has been taking meetings with political types all

week. He met with his former campaign manager Brad Parzcal on Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago, and a source

close to the president tells us that Pascal, even though he was effectively fired by Trump last year, he's back in the inner circle and expect him to be involved in Trump's post-presidential political moves.

Now, in the meantime, Scalise is also leading a charge to pressure Biden to reopen classrooms.

Today, he's hosting a call with grassroots organizations to push for the return

of full-time in-person education. The political angle here for the GOP, they say the schools issue
